A natural makeup look is a perfect way to highlight your natural beauty. It’s really just a look that can only be achieved with makeup because no one just wakes up with glowy skin and long eyelashes. We all have issues – pores, dark under-eye circles, blemishes, etc—so of course, we all need a good concealer, foundation, mascara or perfect eyebrow pencil every now and then. There’s no shame in that.
Skincare first then prime!
A natural makeup look is all about glowing, natural skin. The easiest way to get that (unless you already have perfect skin, then just skip this paragraph) is to fake it.
Before you start any makeup routine, it’s so important that you start with a clean canvas. In other words, indulge in some skin prep such as hydrating face mask.
When you’re going for a minimal look, a primer is the easiest way to get a smooth base. A pore filling primer will smooth and fill any pores without clogging them the way a thick foundation might. An illuminating primer will add glow and make you look extra hydrated.
Fake it till you make it
Choose a foundation that closely matches your skin tone and type. You can use bb cream or mix your daily cream with foundation – it’s up to you. In case you have issues like blemishes or dark circles use a lightweight, hydrating concealer. Blend with your fingers – the warmth of your skin makes the product melt right in!
Put blush onto the apples of your cheeks to give your face some extra color. Continue to blend this out so that the color is not too concentrated in one area. Warm up your skin tone with a bronzer of your choice (we like Benefit bronzer ). Apply this under your cheekbones and along with your temples and jawline. (See also: How To Contour Like a Pro).
Eyes & Eyebrows
For natural makeup look, we recommend matte, brown eyeshadows. Apply a warm eyeshadow shade to your crease, then swipe a neutral shade across the lower lid and blend. Curl your lashes and apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes, or really go for the natural look and skip mascara altogether (you brave girl!).
Fill your brows with a brow product of your choice. Powders give a diffused, natural look while pencils are more precise. We recommend the Anastasia Beverly Hills pencil for most eyebrows.
Finish the look with a pink or nude lip gloss that compliments your skin tone.
